Theft at Food City

Newport police officers were dispatched to Food City West on Thursday in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Officers spoke with a manager, Hailey Moore who stated that she observed a woman concealing merchandise into her pockets. The manager stated the same woman then used a self checkout register to pay for some items, but did not scan a Spiderman balloon or the items that she concealed in her pockets. Security footage confirmed the incident. Management estimated the theft was around $10, but contained an unknown amount or description of the merchandise stolen other than the Spiderman balloon.
