Tom Mooty To Be Honored With Award
A familiar face to many WNPC listeners is being honored next month. The Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, better known as SCHAS will be presenting The 26th Cocke County Citizenship Award at an event in March. This year’s recipient is West End Baptist Church Pastor, Tom Mooty. Pastor Mooty has been a prominent citizen in Cocke County for many years, graduating from Cocke County High School in 1959 and becoming pastor of West End Baptist Church in 1971. Although he left that position, he returned as full time pastor in 2004 and is known for his community service. Tom Mooty will be honored at the award ceremony on March 20 at 11:45 am at the West End Baptist Church. The event will feature a silent auction with proceeds benefitting SCHAS Cocke County subsidized program clients.
SCHAS’s website states the Cocke County Citizenship (CCC) Award, which is given annually, “recognizes and honors a deserving person who demonstrates their care for the community and its citizens”.
Tickets for the award ceremony are $50 for an individual and $300 for a table of six. More information, go to https://schas.org/events
