Tractor Supply Victim Of Scam
Newport police are trying to identify a man who scammed the Tractor Supply in the Western Plaza out of over $500. According to management at Tractor Supply. a black mal subject came into the store Sunday with items to return. The man wanted refunds for four chain binders valued at $219.96 total and also a De Walt brand cordless blower valued at $299.99. The man was given the refund, but when the cashier checked to box for the DeWalt blower, the battery was missing. The man told the cashier that the battery was in his truck. An employee them followed the man to his truck to get the battery, but the suspect quickly got into his truck and drove off. The suspect also carried the chain binders he had received a refund for with him.
Employees at Tractor Supply described the truck the man got into as a white semi with Carolina Logistics on the driver door. The truck had North Carolina plates.
