Two Injured In Cosby Accident

Two people were injured Monday afternoon in a crash that happened at the intersection of Cosby Hwy and Jones Cove Road in Cosby. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol…John Sanford of Maryville was driving a 2019 Chevy 3500 eastbound on Jones Cove Road and as he approached the intersection with Cosby Highway, he rolled through the stop sign and into the path of a southbound 2005 Mazda 3 driven by a 17 year old from Newport. The 17 year old driver could not stop and crashed into Sanford’s vehicle doing significant damage to the Mazda. The Mazda’s driver and their passenger 47 year old Kim Zipperer of Newport were both injured in that crash. Sanford who was uninjured was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
