Unemployment Numbers Released
Unemployment numbers were released for all 95 counties in the state of Tennessee on Thursday. All but four counties saw their unemployment rate in March below 5%. However, Cocke County remains one of the four counties at 5% or above coming in at 5%, but that is actually good news as February’s unemployment rate was 6.5%. So that’s a 1 1/2 % drop in just one month.
Greene County’s unemployment rate dropped from 4.4 to 4.2 %. Hamblen County dropped from 3.6 to 3.4%. Jefferson County also saw a sizeable drop from 4.1% to 3.4. Sevier County had the biggest drop in the area, from 4.9% in February to 3.3 % in March, a drop if 1.6%.
Pickett County had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 5.9%. Williamson County had the lowest at 2.4%.
