UT Gives White Contract Extension
University of Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White is going to be hanging around Rocky Top for quite a bit longer. On Thursday, the University of Tennessee announced they had agreed to a contract extension that will keep Danny White as Athletics Director through 2030. The contract calls for White to be paid $2.75 million a year. White was hired by UT in January of 2021 and during his tenure, Tennessee has seen a return to prominence in national college athletics. In fact, the 2023-24 school year was the best overall year in the history of UT athletics.
For instance, Tennessee was one of only two Power Five schools to send every team to the postseason theis past year — that is a first in the long history of UT Athletics. Tennessee won its third straight SEC All-Sports Trophy, something the school had never done before White arrived. He also made the hire of Josh Heupel as head football coach, which has turned out to be a fantastic hire.
Danny White’s new contract makes him the highest paid athletics director in the SEC.
