Vols Are Sweet!

How sweet it is. Both the Tennessee Vols and The Tennessee Lady Vols are headed to the Sweet 16. On Saturday, the Tennessee Vols defense kept UCLA’s offense under wraps and Chaz Lanier & Zakai Kiegler provided enough offense to lead the Vols over the Bruins 67-58. Now, it gets tougher as the Vols next opponent is o0ne that is very familiar. Tennessee will take on Kentucky Friday night in Indianapolis. Tip off time is 7:40. The winner of that game will face the winner of #1 seed Houston and Purdue.

On the ladies side, The Lady Vols cruised past South Florida Friday night 101-66. Then the fifth seed Lady Vols took on the 4th seed Ohio State last night. Talaysia Cooper led the scoring with 19 points and Lazaria Spearman added on 17 more to pace Tennessee to a 82-67 win over the Buckeyes. The Lady Vols actually trailer by 11 in the first quarter, before turning it on and sending Tennessee to its 37th trip to the Sweet 16 in 43 seasons. The Lady Vols will face the winner of #8 Illinois and #1 seed Texas. That game will be on Saturday with a time to be determined.
