Vols Move Up In Latest Poll…Barely

Tennessee’s dominating win over Chattanooga Saturday did not really impress the AP and their Top 25 poll. The Vols did move up, but barely, going from #15 to #14 in this week’s Top 25.

Georgia remains at number one after they dismantled Clemson over the weekend. Clemson fell from 14 to 25 in the latest poll. The rest of the top 5 are Ohio State at 2, Texas at 3, Alabama is 4th and Notre Dame is at #5.

Other movements of note, the defending ACC champion Florida State Seminoles dropped out of the Top 25 after losing both their opening games, first to Georgia Tech and then Boston College, both of those teams were unranked. Florida State is the only Top 25 team to lose to an unranked opponent and they’ve done it twice.

The Vols next opponent, North Carolina State stayed put at #24 in the latest rankings. Tennessee takes on the Wolfpack Saturday night in Charlotte. Kickoff is at 7:30pm and the game will be on ABC.
