Warrants Issued For Fraud

Warrants were issued on Saturday for two people regarding a case of credit card fraud. William Sanderlin and his girlfriend Samantha Boykin both of Newport…were caught on camera Friday using a stolen credit card to make purchases…that card in question was taken from a stolen vehivcle in Hamblen County. The pair used the card at various locations including Wal-Mart , Lowes and Walgreens…purchases totaling around $700. Warrants were issued for the pair for a long list of larceny charges…along with ATM fraud, theft of property and Fraud Charges.

Sunday morning Newport officer Justin Shelton saw Sanderlin working on a vehicle on 8th street. When officer Shelton went to place Sanderlin under arrest, Sanderlin knocked the officer down and fled where he tried to enclose himself in a garage on the property. After a warning Shelton dispatched his taser leading to Sanderlin’s surrender.. He was taken into custody without further incident. As far as we know, Boykin remains at large.
