Water Outage Planned For Part Of Newport
A section of Newport will be without water on Monday, June 5, due to some work being done by Newport Utilities. As part of the Newport Bypass project, Newport Utilities water crews will be making two connections to the newly installed 8” ductile iron pipe on Highway 25-E. Crews will also be replacing a faulty valve at Highway 25-E and Fairlawn Drive and complete a fitting at Fairlawn and Sheppard Dr. Newport Utilities says all of that work requires an extensive water outage due to the location of the feeds in relationship to the main line valve along Highway 25-E. Businesses affected by this outage includde the Newport Bargain Barn, Lakeway Pallet, H&H Machine Shop and Eternal Water. Residents that will be affected include those on US 25E from Springtime DR to Odell Road. This outage will begin Monday at 7:30 AM and should be completed by 5:00 PM, after which Crews will begin flushing the pipes. The flushing process will require several hours and may continue overnight to ensure the lines are clear. So if you live in the area affected by the outage, make preperations to be without water for the entire day on Monday.
