Woman Accused Of Using Juveniles In Shoplifting Scheme

Police in Newport are investigating a case of a woman using juveniles to help her shoplift from Wal-Mart. According to police, 29 year old Kellie Downs would use juveniles to load up groceries into shopping carts with prepaid canvas Wal-Mart shopping bags. The juveniles would then stage by the bakery and upon a signal from Downs, would then push the shopping cart full of groceries out of the store, where they were then loaded into a vehicle. Those juveniles would then come back into the store empty-handed and accompany Downs in the self checkout as she legitimately paid for a few items. So far, no warrants have been issued in this case.
