Woman Arrested For Drug Charges

Newport police arrested a woman Wednesday evening who told them she was about to go to rehab in California. Police were alerted to 36 year old Heather Jones when she was spotted driving erratically on New Cave Church Road, weaving in and out of her lane, nearly causing several head-on collisions. Jones told the officer she was going to be going to rehab in California for “Suboxone and Opiates”. Jones gave consent to search her vehicle. The search yielded a baggie with a Brown powdery residue in a cigarette pack near the driver’s seat and a small plastic dental floss container with a baggie of suspected heroin weighing .8 grams. Heather Jones was transported to the Cocke County jail and charges with possession of schedule I narcotics…plus driving under the influence.
