Woman Arrested Public Intoxication

A woman was arrested Friday night in Newport after laying in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. Employees and customers at Taco Bell on Cosby Hwy called police because 53 year old Carolyn Messamore had been lying in the parking lot smelling car tires as well as looking in random vehicles. When police arrived, Messamore was hiding in a bush near the drive-thru window. She was holding a wallet which contained 12 counterfeit $100 ills. Messamore told police the the fake money was used to trick thieves who steal her wallet. She was charged with public intoxication as well as for having the counterfeit bills.
