Woman Burglarized While Sleeping In Apartment

A Newport woman told police on Wednesday her apartment had been burglarized…while she was inside. The victim stated that someone broke into her apartment while she was sleeping at her apartment in Uptowne Rentals. She stated she woke to find someone had been inside and stolen her medication, some jewelry and her son’s Nintendo DS gaming system. She told police that a Grady Ball had been dropped off by her apartment and was in possession of medication and jewelry shortly afterward. The victim estimated her loss at just over $1,000. Police are investigating that burglary.
