Woman Fall Victim To Scam
A Cocke County woman has fallen victim to a scam involving a popular sweepstakes company. The woman stated she was contacted by a Mr. Brown who stated he was a preacher and worked with Publisher’s Clearing House. He informed her she had won cash and two vehicles. Mr. Brown told the 74 year old victim that he would bring her a check for $35,00 along with the two vehicles. However, he needed her to send a payment to transport the vehicles from out of state. The victim sent money in the sum of $1242 via a card from Walgreen’s. Of course, she never got the money or the cars and is now over $1200 poorer thanks to this scam.
BTW…Publisher’s Clearing House hays that their prizes are free and you never have to pay money to get them.
