Woman Leaves More Than Tip At Waffle House
A woman left more than a tip on a table at Waffle House in Newport early Friday morning. Employees at Waffle House stated that an older white female had left a bag on the table where she had been sitting. It contained $481 in cash but also 3 grams of crack cocaine. Employees gave police a description of the vehicle the woman left in and police spotted the vehicle driving slowly by the Waffle House a short time later. They identified the woman as the one they had observed on video footage from the restaurant. 60 year old Sherry Godsey admitted to leaving the bag on the table and that the drugs were hers. She told police she had purchased the crack cocaine from a man in Knoxville. Godsey was charged with schedule II narcotics possession plus she was wanted on two theft warrants in Sevier County.
