Zakai Ziegler Suffers Season Ending Injury
The results are in and it is not good news for the Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball team. Zakai Ziegler suffered a non-contact injury Tuesday night in the game against Arkansas. Ziegler was helped from the court and could not bear weight on his left leg. Doctors confirmed on Wednesday that Ziegler tore his ACL putting an end to the point guard’s season. Rick Barnes and company will now have to find a way to replace one of their spark plugs, not just on offense but on defense as well. The same day that Ziegler was injured, he was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award. The Vols will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Auburn. They are in a battle for the final double bye spot in the SEC Tournament which begins next week.
