2nd Annual Pancake Week Feb. 26 Thru March 4th
Who doesn’t like pancakes? According to city officials in Gatlinburg, flapjacks have a rich history in the Great Smoky Mountains. For instance they say when logging camps were the rage in what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, lumberjacks would fill up on hearty flapjacks ahead of doing a hard day’s work. After the park came into existence in the 1930’s and the logging business dried up, flapjacks remained a popular staple in the region. So, Gatlinburg is celebrating with the 2nd annual Pancake week to honor one of the area’s most popular foods. Gatlinburg Pancake Week will run from Feb. 26 to March 4th. Numerous pancake restaurants in Gatlinburg will be showcasing their different unique styles of pancakes, plus giving away promotional items as well. Among the pancake places participating are the Pancake Pantry, Crockett’s Breakfast, Flapjacks. The House of Pancakes and Log Cabin Pancake House.
