Tree Strikes House

A Cosby couple got a rude awakening early Monday morning. Michael & Phyllis Shropshire of English Mountain Road said they were in their home in bed around 1:30am Monday morning when they heard a loud crashing sound on their home which rousted them out of bed. They went outside to investigate and found a large tree lying in their yard…the tree struck part of the house doing damage to the roof, siding, shutters and guttering. No one was injured though…however to make a bad situation just a little it worse, the tree was also blocking the road. While a road department employee was trying to remove part of the tree from the road using his truck and a wench, he backed over Mrs. Shropshire’s flower garden.
