CCHS Student Accepted Into Premier Arts Academy
A Cocke County High School junior has been accepted into one of the premier summer arts camps in the world. 17 year old Landon Osornio of Newport will be attending the Interlochen Arts Camp this summer. Interlochen Arts Camp, which is located in northwest Michigan, has been in operation since 1928 and welcomes students from 49 different countries and all 50 US states. At Interlochen, artistic students ages 8-18 from around the world get together to expand their capacity in music, theatre, dance, creative writing, visual arts, interdisciplinary arts, and film.
Some of the former students that have attended Interlochen over the years include singers Norah Jones and Josh Groban; Google co-founder Larry Page; Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mary Oliver; and cartoonist Cathy Guisewite. Also Interlochen is visited each year by great guests like Alison Krauss; Diana Ross; Earth, Wind & Fire; and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Landon Osornio is an All-State musician in both voice and trumpet and has been recognized as the top Tenor 2 in East Tennessee. As a composer Landon has won a regional composition competition three times. Some of his compositions have been used by the Cocke County High School. Landon has been accepted into Interlochen’s Summer Camp focusing in Music Composition.
Congratulations, Landon!
