AmeriCorps Recruiting For Summer Jobs In Cocke County

The national service program AmeriCorps is now recruiting for summer jobs in Newport. These jobs are in conjunction with Clinch Powell’s Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps program. The positions that are available will support housing programs, including construction support, lawn care, painting, debris removal, client intake, and community outreach. Experience is a bonus, but its not required and Clinch-Powell will provide training for the positions.
Positions are available for individuals 17 years of age and older. AmeriCorps provides a living allowance twice monthly, with an additional education award that can be used for college, trade school, or student loans. this award will be provided after the service is complete . The education award is good for seven years, and those who are 55 years old or older can transfer their education award to their child or grandchild to help pay for their education.
Contracts for these positions range from three to six months, and 20 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility for students during the school year. Many positions being on June 1.
