Fire Destroys Home Over The Weekend

One woman is now homeless after her home was destroyed by fire over the weekend. Kimberly Wood of Cosby tole the sheriff’s office that she had a candle burning in the home, but walked out of the room, when she returned, the candle had broken and caught the room on fire. Wood says she tried to extinguish the fire but could not. The Cosby, Grassy Fork and Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Departments got to the scene but the home was completely engulfed.

Flames began to spread to the home next door, but fire crews were able to contain that fire to the front porch area of that home. Wood told the sheriff’s office, she did not have insurance on the home. The Red Cross has been brought in for assistance.
