State Route 160 To Be Closed Monday Night
Motorists who drive State Route 160 between Newport and Morristown need to be aware of a construction project that will make the road inaccessible on Monday night. Crews will be replacing a drainage pipe north of Bybee on route 160 which will force the road’s closing starting at 7pm Monday evening. The work is expected to be finished by 7am Tuesday morning and the road reopened. Monday night, cars and small trucks will be detoured on Broar Thicket Road to Glendale Road and then on to Sawyer Hollow Road to get around the construction. Commercial vehicles and also large trucks will need to take an alternate route Monday night.
When the road reopens Tuesday morning, one lane will be closed for slope stabilization. A temporary traffic signal be in place in that area. That will affect any commuting time you have going to and from Hamblen County on Route 160. The traffic signal is expected to be in place until next Friday afternoon, November 12th.
