Jefferson Co. Deputies Arrest Man With Rifle After Brief Manhunt
Jefferson County police were busy Saturday afternoon looking for a man armed with a rifle. Deputies responded to a domestic assault call near the Strawberry Plains area. A man and woman, who were a married couple stated that the husband’s brother had assualted them and he was armed with a rifle. They told deputies that 35 year old Nicholas Knight had left the home and was last seen walking towards farmland behind the house. The Jefferson County Special Response Team was deployed to the scene along with 2 k-9’s and a drone also were brought in for a manhunt. After about 20 minutes, Knight was spotted in a tree line armed with the rifle. Knight followed deputies orders and dropped the rifle. He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. The White Pine police department assisted in that manhunt.
