Republican Lawmakers Asking for Manifesto

Republican lawmakers in the Tennessee house have sent a letter to Metro Nashville’s police chief asking that the manifesto of Audrey Hale be made public. Hale is the person that shot her way into the Covenant School in the Green Hills section of Nashville and killed six people, three of them children on March 27th. In the letter, the lawmakers say in part…

“As you know, Governor Bill Lee has called upon the General Assembly to consider public safety legislation in response to these events in an extraordinary special session scheduled for Aug 21. In order for this special session to be successful, it is paramount we understand the behavior and motives of the Covenant School perpetrator. We respectfully request the release of the perpetrator’s writings as well as relevant medical records and toxicology reports.”

The letter was signed by Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton and House Caucus Chairman, Rep, Jeremy Faison. It is followed by the signatures of 68 other Republican lawmakers.

That manifesto is currently in the hands of a Chancery Court Judge in Nashville who is deciding what will be made public, if anything. That decision is supposed to come down by June 8th.
