Woman Claims Snake Crawling On Her, Arrested For Drugs

A woman was arrested Sunday night after she was seen acting erratically and looking into the windows of the Grill 73 on Hwy 73 east of Newport. Deputy Richard Hoover found items spread around the area across from the Grill 73. They included a black backpack and a pink duffel bag belonging to the suspect. Hoover then spotted the suspect, 34 year old Jennifer Burnell, walking southbound on Hwy 73. She was screaming that she had a snake crawling on her. She then told Deputy Hoover that the snake had just bit her on the back of the head. Burnell was detained and when Hoover checked her belongings, he found a baggie containing methamphetamine plus one containing marijuana. Burnell is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.
