Deputies Arrest Two From Georgia On Drug Charges
Two people in Georgia are in the Cocke County jail on drug charges. Sheriff’s deputies were called to a rental cabin in Cosby. Owner Brenda Schultz told the sheriff’s office she had rented the cabin to a man and woman on Saturday July 1 for a two night stay. However, come Tuesday, July 4th, the couple were still there and would not leave. Deputies went to the cabin on Tall Oak Way and made contact w3ith 30 year old Gary Elliot. He and 30 year old Christina McDaniel stated they had just come up from Georgia in an attempt to get away from McDaniels’ old ex-boyfriend. While on scene, a deputy spotted a 20 gage sawed-off shotgun that Brenda Schultz stated should not have been in the cabin. That shotgun was loaded with a round in the chamber. A further search found drugs belonging to both parties. In total, nearly 23 grams of methamphetamine was seized as well as a gram of fentanyl. A .38 caliber pistol with six live rounds was found in-between the side of a couch and seat cushion. Both have been charged with possession of illegal narcotics, plus possessing a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon in the commission of a felony.
