Jackson, TN Man Arrested For DUI

Cocke County police arrested a man from Jackson, TN last week after they were called to check on a disabled vehicle. That vehicle, a 2004 Volkswagen Golf was found near MM 450 on I-40 with a flat tire. The man in the vehicle was 40 year old John Hershman who was under the influence of alcohol. An open container was found in the vehicle and Hershman was so unsteady on his feet that he could not even lean on the guardrail. The deputy in a search for Hershman’s license uncovered a loaded Sig Sauer 1911 45 caliber handgun with the trigger back. A second gun, a Sig P229 .357 was found in the drivers’ side door. Hershman was charged with DUI and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.
