Man Shot By Nashville Police Had Greenville Ties
The man who was killed by Nashville police on Interstate 65 last week has ties to east Tennessee. Authorities say that 37 year old Lanson Eastep lived and worked in the Greeneville area between 2002 and 2015. According to the TBI…Eastep had run-ins with authorities in Greeneville, Greene County, Carter, Washington, and Hawkins counties between 2002 and 2018. Last Thursday, Tennessee Highway Patrol officer spotted Eastep on the side of the interstate and stopped to offer him a ride…Eastep then produced a box cutter. After about 30 minutes of negotiations, officers opened fire when Eastep pulled a metal cylindrical object from his waist. Bodycam footage showed that Eastep pointed the object at police before they opened fire.
