Newport City Council Approves Events for 2022
Last night the Newport City Council met in the council chambers at city hall. Among the items discussed was the first reading of an ordinance that would penalize businesses with beer licences that do not pay their renewal fees on time. There will be a second reading of that ordinance at a later date.
The council also approved the application for a grant to help the city purchase a boat and other equipment for the city of Newport’s Swift Water Rescue team.
Also approved were all the events for the coming year including the concerts this summer at the Riverwalk downtown, The Harvest Street Festival this fall and the council gave approval for the Christmas Parade which will be on December 2nd this year…and this year will have twist…the council gave their approval to have the Christmas parade at night this year.
