Police Arrest Man For Multiple Charges
Newport police arrested a man Tuesday night in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Witnesses stated the man was in a Toyota Tundra pickup, driving erratically in the parking lot, and yelling that he was going to start shooting people. Police confronted 63 year old Robert Rowlands, who appeared to be under the influence. Police found multiple small open containers of Jägermeister within reach of the driver seat and a mason jar containing a 25 grams of marijuana in the passenger floorboard. Officers also located a shotgun behind the drivers seat of Rowland’s truck. He refused to do any field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, Disorderly Conduct, Violation of Tennessee’s Implied Consent Law and Possession of schedule VI.
