Search For Man Wanted In Sevier Co. Turns Up Empty

Newport police are looking for a man wanted in Sevier County. Sevier County authorities had contacted Newport police that 25 year old Joseph Yazel had been seen in Newport living in one of the apartments above the Rustic Cow. Newport officers along with Sevier County deputies went to that apartment. The suspect’s wife answered after first sliding the stove away from the apartment door. Eliza Yazel stated to officers she had not had any recent contact with the wanted suspect. Officers though observed a screen cover removed from one of the windows in the apartment and the window standing open. Officers were not able to locate Joseph Yazel. Sevier County Sheriff’s Office deputies reviewed security camera footage at the Rustic Cow showing Joseph Yazel had been on the property recently. The Sevier County sheriff’s department stated they would remain in contact with Newport authorities regarding that man.
